Escape your life for a little while — come play in mine.

Wish us luck . . .

Posted by Lissa on October 8, 2009

We’re off to see the Lissaville (Home of the Evil Conservatives) Chief of Police today.  Here’s hoping!

In the meantime, check out CoyoteBlog if you’re interested in the life of a small business owner, exactly the type of person whose business is about to be taxed out of existence if we’re not careful.  I knew that the slew of business regulations was silly, but I didn’t realize it was THAT silly.  He needs a license to sell eggs in Kentucky?  Really?

and the FDA program created by the Food Safety Enhancement Act hasn’t started yet. I pray that legislation never passes. It covers gardens, farmers markets, and road side stands. And requires federal inspection if you have three chickens or a goat, and intend to sell, trade, or barter anything – or if you haul someone’s produce anywhere. It covers food for people or animals, or anything that *could* be a component of food for people or animals. The record keeping will cripple the ten biggest Monsanto agribusiness farms – let alone Tom’s Snacks distributors, or the local movie theater (they have bags of unpopped popcorn in the back room – that is “produce, transport, or store” food or food components for people or animals).

The house passed the Food Safety Administration act July 30, 2009, and sent it to the Senate.

It wasn’t so bad at the police station. We handed in our paperwork, paid our money, got fingerprinted, had photos taken, and were on our way. Now we wait (maybe a month, maybe a bit more) and hope we get the chief’s sign-off.

  3. Good luck kids!

Man, I had a CCW in MA back when all you needed was pictures (you provided), a letter of recommendation, & $10.

‘Course, that was over 35 yrs. ago…

When you land your permits, & if you’re so inclined, gimme a call & we can set up a shoot ‘n try.
